Infrastructure Upgrading

Infrastructure Upgrading

Access to infrastructure is an essential human right, upholding basic human dignity.  In the 21st century, people should not be deprived of this access; it should be a given.  Yet, this is not the case for millions worldwide.  For this reason, Ikhayalami puts a great deal of emphasis on working with urban poor communities to develop scalable infrastructure solutions that are affordable, socially acceptable, and easily implementable; through this work, we vastly improve the quality of people's living conditions in informal settlements.  Areas of focus include: decentralized sanitation systems, waste water treatment systems, increasing access to bulk sewerage systems and potable water, sustainable drainage systems (SUDS), connection to the bulk energy grid, and the implementation of solar energy systems.
